Rosa Parks, the “Mother of the Civil Rights Movement”, was born in Tuskegee Alabama in 1913. Sojourner Truth (Isabella Baumfree), a preacher, abolitionist, and women’s rights advocate, was commemorated on a United States Postage Stamp in 1986.
February 3rd: On this date in 1870, the United States passed the 15th Amendment to the Constitution that gave full voting rights to Black Americans. On this date in 1874, Blanche Kelso Bruce of Mississippi was elected to a full six-year term in the United States Senate.
Today, President Barack Obama accepted an invitation to speak in a question-and-answer session to the Republican Caucus in Baltimore; he was personally invited by Congressman John “Fake Orange Suntan” Boehner (R-Ohio). I suspect that Mr. Boehner wishes he had not invited the President. The White House requested that the entire exchange by taped and streamed live.
